Cloudflare API

by Cloudflare

Reach the whole Cloudflare API from an assistant with a few code-mode tools instead of thousands of endpoint tools.

Best for

Managing Cloudflare resources such as Workers, DNS records, R2 buckets or KV namespaces from an assistant without loading thousands of tool definitions.

Connect Cloudflare API

Recommended setup

Remote

Point your client at https://mcp.cloudflare.com/mcp. Cloudflare's repository shows the client settings for OAuth and for an API token.

Before you connect

What the assistant can do follows the OAuth permissions or API-token permissions you grant, and API tokens with Client IP Address Filtering are not supported.

Overview

The Cloudflare API MCP server covers more than 2,500 Cloudflare API endpoints, including Workers, KV, R2, D1, DNS and Zero Trust, without exposing each one as a tool. The assistant gets a handful of tools instead: it writes JavaScript to search the OpenAPI spec for the right endpoints, then writes more to call them, and the server returns only the result. Cloudflare reports that this keeps the cost near 1,000 tokens against about 244,000 for minimal native tool schemas. It also searches Cloudflare's developer documentation. Cloudflare's own docs call it the only MCP server you need for Cloudflare.

What it can do

  • Four tools: docs searches Cloudflare's developer documentation, search queries the OpenAPI spec with JavaScript, execute calls the API with JavaScript, and whoami reports the connected user or account.
  • Adding ?codemode=false to the URL registers one tool per API endpoint instead, at a much higher token cost.
  • In code mode each search or execute result is capped at about 6,000 tokens, and cuts are marked as truncated.

What you need

Sign-in and credentials

Sign in with OAuth and choose the permissions to grant (recommended), or send a Cloudflare API token as a bearer token. User and account tokens both work.

Why is this labelled Official?

The server lives in the cloudflare/mcp repository in Cloudflare's GitHub organization, whose About text reads "MCP server for the Cloudflare API" (GitHub, read 2026-10-31). Cloudflare's developer documentation page "Cloudflare's own MCP servers" lists it as the Cloudflare API MCP server at https://mcp.cloudflare.com/mcp (read 2026-10-31). No MCP Registry entry was found for it.

Listing on HistChat is not an endorsement or a security review. MCP servers can access data or perform actions, so review the source and permissions before connecting.
