Privacy Policy

To provide current local-first functionality, the extension may process AI conversation data on your device. This may include conversation titles, conversation messages, timestamps, supported-platform metadata, folder assignments, saved prompts, search index data, and export data generated from conversations.

This processing happens on-device for the current indexing, search, organization, prompt, and export features.

Conversations, indexes, folders, and saved prompts are stored locally using browser storage technologies such as IndexedDB where applicable. The exact storage mechanism may evolve, but the current product is designed so conversation organization remains local by default.

If you create or sign into a HistChat account, the service may process account information such as your account identifier, email address, authentication and session information, and plan or entitlement state.

Account functionality is handled through the existing Supabase-based account system.

Paid-plan checkout and payment processing may be handled through third-party payment infrastructure. HistChat does not need to store full payment card details itself.

HistChat does not currently use product analytics that collect conversation content.

If privacy-safe product analytics are introduced in the future, this policy will be updated before launch or use of that functionality.

Current conversation organization is local by default. Optional cloud-sync functionality may be introduced in the future. If enabled, relevant data handling and storage details will be disclosed in an updated policy before that feature is made available.

Team features may later allow organizations to manage members and view approved team-level usage information. This policy will be updated when those features are released.

HistChat interacts with user-accessible AI services such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. Those services have their own privacy policies and terms.

HistChat does not control those platforms or their data practices.

HistChat does not sell user conversation content. Limited information may be processed by service providers needed to operate authentication, account management, billing, hosting, and configuration.

Under the current product, conversation content remains local by default.

Locally stored data remains on your device until deleted through the product, browser controls, or extension removal, subject to browser behavior.

Account and billing records may be retained as required for service operation and legal obligations.

We use reasonable technical measures intended to protect account and service data. No online service or local software environment can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

HistChat is not intended for children under the minimum age required by applicable law or for users who cannot legally agree to the service terms.

This policy may be updated as the product evolves, including if cloud sync, Team, or analytics features are introduced.
