Zapier

by Zapier

Take actions across thousands of apps from an assistant, using the connections in your Zapier account.

Best for

People who want one connection that lets an assistant work across many SaaS tools, such as calendar, chat and CRM, instead of setting up each app's own server.

Before you connect

Actions run against the apps connected to your Zapier account, so an assistant can send messages or change records there. If your organization manages your MCP client, an admin may need to approve the Zapier connector first.

Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, then enter this URL:

  • Claude Desktop adds remote servers through Connectors, not through claude_desktop_config.json. Menu names can differ by plan.

Overview

Zapier MCP is a hosted server that connects an assistant to the apps linked to your Zapier account, so it can send messages, create tasks and update records during a conversation. Zapier says it covers more than 9,000 apps and 40,000 actions, handles OAuth and rate limiting, and applies the same workspace access controls and audit history as the rest of Zapier. Each successful tool call uses two tasks from your Zapier plan. Each server runs in agentic mode, where the assistant adds the actions it needs, or managed mode, where you pick a fixed set. The GitHub repository only distributes a client-side plugin; the server is hosted by Zapier.

What it can do

  • Agentic mode lets the assistant find and add actions mid-conversation; managed mode fixes the set of actions you choose.
  • Several MCP clients can connect to the same server, so Claude and Cursor can share one setup.
  • Actions run through the same app connections as your Zaps, under workspace-level access controls and audit history.

What you need

Sign-in and credentials

A Zapier account is required. Most clients sign in with OAuth, and Zapier provisions your server once authentication completes. The client must support Streamable HTTP; Zapier MCP does not support SSE.
