Overview

The Microsoft Learn MCP Server gives an assistant direct access to Microsoft's official documentation, so answers about Azure, .NET and other Microsoft technologies don't depend on training data. It is a hosted Streamable HTTP endpoint at learn.microsoft.com/api/mcp and needs no API key or login. Three tools do the work: microsoft_docs_search, microsoft_docs_fetch and microsoft_code_sample_search. Claude Code and GitHub Copilot CLI users can instead install a plugin that bundles the server with agent skills for documentation lookups and code reference.

  • microsoft_code_sample_search finds code samples in the documentation.
  • A microsoft-docs plugin for Claude Code and GitHub Copilot CLI includes the server and agent skills for concepts and API lookups.

Sign-in and credentials

No account, API key or sign-in is needed; clients connect to the public endpoint over Streamable HTTP.
