Overview

The Firebase MCP server ships inside firebase-tools, the Firebase CLI, and runs locally with npx. It lets an assistant create and manage Firebase projects, read and write Cloud Firestore, Realtime Database and SQL Connect data, manage Authentication users, check security rules, send Cloud Messaging notifications, pull Crashlytics data and query Cloud Functions logs. It acts with the same credentials that authorize the Firebase CLI on that machine, so it works as the account you are logged in with. A few tools call Gemini in Firebase, and Google warns that its output can be plausible but wrong.

What it can do

  • Creates and manages Firebase projects and apps, and manages Authentication users.
  • Works with Cloud Firestore, Realtime Database and SQL Connect data, and validates and retrieves security rules for Firestore, Cloud Storage and Realtime Database.
  • Sends Cloud Messaging notifications, reads Crashlytics crash reports, queries Cloud Functions logs and manages Remote Config templates.
  • Some tools use Gemini in Firebase, for example to generate SQL Connect schemas and operations.
