Blender

by ahujasid

Drive a live Blender scene from an assistant: build objects, set materials, run Python and check the result visually.

Best for

Artists and developers who want to describe a 3D scene in words and iterate on it inside their own Blender.

Recommended setup

Local

Setup has two parts, the MCP server and the Blender add-on. The project's one-command setup runs a script from its website and configures supported clients and the add-on; the README also shows a manual route.

Before you connect

The assistant can run arbitrary Python inside Blender, and the add-on's socket has no authentication or encryption, so save your work first and keep it on localhost. Setting BLENDER_MCP_SAFE_MODE=1 checks each script before it runs.

Overview

MCP for Blender, formerly called blender-mcp, is an independent community project that connects an assistant to a running Blender. A Blender add-on opens a local socket server, and a Python MCP server relays the assistant's requests to it. The assistant mostly writes Blender Python itself, and the server adds tools it cannot do alone: looking at the viewport or a render from several angles, summarising the scene, importing assets from Poly Haven, Sketchfab and Poly Pizza, and generating models through services such as Meshy, Tripo and Hyper3D Rodin. The README states it is a third-party integration and not made by Blender.

What it can do

  • Nine tools, including execute_blender_code to run Python in your open Blender, look to view the viewport, camera or a render from several angles, and get_scene_info for a compact scene summary.
  • Searches and imports assets from Poly Haven, Sketchfab and Poly Pizza, and generates 3D models with Tripo, Hunyuan3D, Hyper3D Rodin or Meshy.
  • Needs Blender 3.0 or newer, Python 3.10 or newer and the uv package manager, plus the project's Blender add-on.
  • Sends a minimal anonymous usage record by default; setting DISABLE_TELEMETRY=true turns this off, and collecting prompts, code and screenshots is opt-in.

What you need

Sign-in and credentials

No account is needed to connect. Some optional asset and generation services use their own API keys, and the project also sells a Premium option that works without them.

Why is this labelled Community?

Maintained by the GitHub user ahujasid. The README states "This is a third-party integration and not made by Blender", and the repository description says it is not affiliated with the Blender Foundation (both read 2026-10-31). No MCP Registry entry was found for it.

Listing on HistChat is not an endorsement or a security review. MCP servers can access data or perform actions, so review the source and permissions before connecting.
