Overview

The Hugging Face MCP Server connects an assistant to the Hugging Face Hub. It can search models, datasets, Spaces and papers, look through Hugging Face documentation with natural-language queries, and run community tools exposed by MCP-compatible Gradio Spaces. Optional tools let it create repositories, use sandboxes and run jobs on Hugging Face infrastructure. It is a hosted Streamable HTTP endpoint at huggingface.co/mcp. Rather than writing configuration by hand, you open your MCP settings page while logged in, which generates the exact snippet for your client.

What it can do

  • A built-in hf_fs tool lets the assistant navigate the Hub, including semantic search of documentation and Spaces.
  • Runs community tools from MCP-compatible Gradio Spaces you add on the settings page, and a Dynamic Spaces option can discover them at runtime.
  • Extra tools for contributing repositories, sandboxes and jobs are configured from the MCP settings page, and Hugging Face says it adds experimental tools from time to time.
